Farm Manager

Primary Functions
- Supervise and direct farm Team members to achieve goals
- Follow good husbandry animal practices
- Brooding/growing turkeys using Jennie-O Turkey Store guidelines for bio security, animal welfare, safety and best management practices to meet production standards
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively: keep all parties informed of issues and conditions in the area that will require more detailed attention
- Timely follow through: ensure farm employees achieve their required work goals and farm goals
- Drives change: must always be looking for innovative ways to reduce costs.
- Increase skill sets: know and understand the health and condition of each flock on the farm and preventative maintenance when conditions warrant
- Inspire employees: assist with all movement of turkey flocks between growing stages, receiving birds, or shipping to market
- Time management: organize and utilize time effectively to allow for completion of projects and duties and attendance in meetings all within the specified date and time
Training
Your initial training will include Continual Improvement Process training which will provide a common language and understanding of our commitment to meeting agreed-upon customer expectations 100% of the time. You will also receive New Hire Orientation which will provide an introduction to:
- Policies and procedures
- IT support
- Safety
- Communication best practices
- Benefits
- Performance reviews
- Compensation
- Accounting reporting
- Brief business unit overviews
The company also provides continued professional training opportunities that support critical thinking and decision making, communication, interpersonal, customer service and technical skills. Courses range from Excel Advanced, Business Writing and Grammar, Dale Carnegie Leadership Training, Meat Science Training, DISC Behavioral Styles, Presentations that Deliver, Maximizing Your Writing, and Leading Purposeful and Engaging Meetings.
