Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided

1 cup onion, chopped

1 package JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® Lean Turkey Burger Patties

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper, freshly ground

8 slice of American or cheddar cheese

8 slices rye or pumpernickel bread

Directions

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook 5 to 10 minutes or until tender and golden brown, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle burger patties with salt and pepper. Cook the turkey patties as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165ºF as measured by a meat thermometer. Place 1 slice of cheese over each slice of bread. Add burger patties and top with onions. Close sandwiches with remaining bread, cheese side down. Melt 1/2 tablespoon butter in same skillet. Cook 2 sandwiches at a time in skillet until browned and cheese is melted, about 3 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining butter and 2 sandwiches.
