Research & Development Intern

This full-time (40 hours per week) internship will be in the summer and/or semester. You'll be introduced to the company microbiology programs and given the chance to learn and apply food safety knowledge and leadership skills. The internship will take place in pilot plant and processing plant environments, including possible travel between company locations. Responsibilities may include:

 

  • Work with product developers in a pilot plant and plant environment
  • Learn and perform laboratory assays relating to food safety and quality
  • Perform scientific literature searches
  • Work with industry professionals to gain valuable knowledge and experience in research techniques and processes
  • Evaluate processes by utilizing food safety and/or sanitation principles
  • Assist in formulating and evaluating innovative new products

 

Qualified candidates will have completed their junior year with a Food Safety, Food Science, Meat Science, or other related major with a minimum 2.7 GPA; and demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Computer software knowledge and/or skills are a plus.
