French Toast Bake with Candied Turkey Bacon

A little work at night will pay off the next morning when you wake up to the best brunch ever. This overnight French toast recipe is seriously tasty and is topped with candied turkey bacon. Who wouldn’t love that?

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf sour dough bread, cubed (about 6 cups)
  • 6 eggs, lightly beaten or 1½ cups egg substitute
  • 1¼ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • powdered sugar, whipped cream, if desired

Directions

  1. In lightly greased, 2-quart dish, place bread cubes. In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla. Pour egg mixture over bread, pressing bread down to soak. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  2. Heat oven to 350°F.
  3. Uncover, sprinkle with Candied Turkey Bacon and bake 40 minutes or until eggs are set. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with whipped cream, if desired. Serve with maple syrup.
