Southwest Turkey Breakfast Pizza Pinwheels

Here’s a brunch recipe that re-invents the pinwheel. Southwestern flavors accompany eggs and lean turkey sausage, encased in a flaky pizza crust. Under 300 calories per serving!

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package JENNIE-O® Lean Hot Turkey Breakfast Sausage Roll
  • 1 (15-ounce) carton southwestern flavor cholesterol-free egg product
  • 1 (13.8-ounce) package refrigerated whole grain pizza crust
  • 1 cup reduced-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
  • salsa, if desired

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F. Cook sausage as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Add eggs to sausage and cook until eggs are cooked. Remove filling from stove top and cool.
  2. Unroll pizza crust onto a clean work surface. Top crust with shredded cheese and sausage and egg mixture. Roll pizza crust jelly-roll style. Cut dough into 1-inch pieces. Place spiral slices onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 23 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve with salsa for dipping, if desired. Makes 12 spirals.
